Session 1 Workshops   |   Friday March 13   |   7:45pm - 9:00pm
ACF/Young Adults

Iconic Mentoring

Guadalupe Montour (Strategist, Young Adult LIFE, North American Division)

What if the greatest thing you ever did as a leader wasn't something you accomplished but someone you developed? What if your legacy isn't your position, but the people who rise because you made space for them to grow? Mentorship begins with seeing potential in someone that they often cannot see in themselves, guiding them in a way that allows them to discover who God created them to be, and helping them uncover the strengths and gifts already within them. This session will explore what it means to become a Christ-centered, emotionally healthy mentor who empowers others to grow, lead, and thrive. Drawing from the mentoring model of Jesus, we will learn how to build authentic relationships, guide without controlling, mentor from security rather than insecurity, give constructive feedback with grace, and create safe spaces where emerging leaders can develop their voice and confidence. We will also explore the emotional intelligence required for strong mentoring, the importance of shifting from "sage on the stage" to "guide at the side", and the self-awareness needed to recognize when you may not yet be ready to mentor. By the end, you will walk away with a practical, Christ-shaped framework for mentoring that strengthens the church, honors individuality, and reflects the heart of Jesus.

The Jesus-Shaped Welcome: Embracing "Other"

Guadalupe Montour (Strategist, Young Adult LIFE, North American Division)

What happens to the very people Jesus consistently moved toward, the ones on the edges, the misunderstood, the judged, and the quietly hurting? A compassionate church doesn't just open its doors; it opens its heart. And the way we treat the "others" among us reveals more about our discipleship than any sermon we preach. In this session, leaders will learn how to build ministries that embrace those who are often overlooked, including LGBTQ individuals, people who are divorced, pregnant outside of marriage, or living with mental illness, with the same compassion Jesus showed to people on the margins. Attendees will explore how to reduce stigma, create safe environments, foster belonging, and develop real pathways for meaningful ministry involvement.

ACF/Young Adults

The Jesus-Shaped Welcome: Embracing "Other"

Guadalupe Montour (Strategist, Young Adult LIFE, North American Division)

Every church says, "Everyone is welcome", but who actually feels welcomed when they walk through our doors? Together, we will uncover practical strategies for leading with clarity and grace, listening with empathy, addressing fears and misconceptions, and shaping a church culture where every story is honored and every person finds a place to serve, contribute, and grow.
